Format of auditions
1. Establish Audition Venue.
2. Arrange community dance workshop.
3. Dance warm-up 45 min with dance captain.
4. Dance class of 90 min with show choreographer.
5. Announcement of category the contestant will be performing in.
6. Category No 1 - 7
7. Presenter calls the entrant.
8. Auditions are called
(Solo-prepared dance routine of 1 min 30 sec).
9. Own choice of music on CD or cassette tape.
10. Dance routine is performed in front of 4 judges.
11. Comment on dance routine. (Critique)
12. Announcement of the audition results and the possibility of going into the next round.
13. Next contestant.

Total 9 Provinces x 7 Categories = 63
Contestants 63 + 21 = 84


Choose from seven categories:
one of the following styles


1) Kwaito, Break Dancing Mpantsula, Fusion, Hip-Hop

2) Traditional National/ Character
3) Freestyle, Disco, Rave, House,
4) Tap
5) Contemporary, Ballet or
Jazz, Modern Ballet or Jazz,
Classical Ballet,
6) Dance Sport, Ballroom, Aerobics & Jive
7) Open Category Interpretive / Creative, Acrobatic, Line Dancing & Wheelchair, etc.

2004 - DANCE ROUTINES FOR SEMI-FINALS

Dance categories 1-7

NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS - 9 PROVINCES (to be staged late 2004)

All dance categories will be performed: -
The choreographer and show director will be directing the dancers and the show on the spot.

Choreographer teaches routine on stage in a 15-30 Min ensemble performance in front of a live audience.

2004 - NATIONAL FINALS TO BE STAGED IN SEPTEMBER

FINALS - 9 DANCERS

All 7-dance categories will be dropped.
All dancers start on an even footing with each performing outside his/her normal genre or field.

The show Choreographer teaches a routine on stage in a 15-30 Min ensemble performance in front of a live paid audience.

All contestants are winners!

This will test/access the versatility and interpretive / creative ability of the winners, to be able to audition for professional shows like Sun City Extravaganzas or Richard Lorings African Footprint and SABC Variety shows.

And the winner is.

ONE WINNER ONE TITLE!

SA's FIRST DANCIN DANCE CHAMPION for 2004.
